One of the discussions which has upset my classmates involves the idea of tainted money. Here is the gist of it.

Let's say you work at a restaurant as a greeter and are extremely well paid. You can afford nice nights out and fancy clothes and so on. You even get a $10,000 bonus.

Now let's say the next day you discover that they reason they can pay you so well is they have an under-age brothel in the basement with crying pre-teen girls. The money you've been spending and enjoying was made based on their abuse.

Would you have any qualms about continuing to spend the money? Would the money feel "tainted" in any way? Or would you feel you earned it so it's yours? Would you consider donating some of it to charity, maybe a charity to support abused girls?

I would feel absolutely terrible about it and would want to get rid of it as soon as possible ~ but in a way that beneftted society ~ so the charity for abused girls would be ideal.

I personally find these kind of hypothetical questions annoying. You never really know what you are going to do until you are in a situation. There are always a zillion other factors to consider based on reality's variables at the time.

I think I would not enjoy this class.
