after just beginng to deal with frootloop's passing... i had to have my beloved ozzy put down today. i am completly destroyed. not that i don't love all the gong show members, but ozzy was my sweetest girl! i am not even close to getting gover the shock, i can't believe it. my head hurts so bad from crying. about 48 hrs ago i noticed ozz's but was all puffed up. i was amazed because she a classic "egg bum" and was having few but huge poo's. i figured for sure she was egg bound. (happens more in first eggs and senior birds (ozz was both, she was about 8 and had never laid before)no egg in 48 hrs spells trouble and we went to the vet. he thought so too but we discussed how we couldn't feel the hardness of a shell. he took her back and x-rayed her, there was no egg. it was a fast growing tumer around her kidney area. there was shots and stuff to keep her going a while longer but no cure. i suddenly realized what i had to do and started to cry.dr kawanis took some pics of her for me and she chirped and showed off for him and the camera. (she was sitting on my shoulder in the office and she is fully flighted) he took her out of the room and gave her the shot and brought her back as i'd asked. i told her i loved her and kissed and stroked her while she drank my tears. in a few seconds, she laid her head down and snuggled into my chest, closed her eyes... and was gone. fly with the angels my baby i love you and miss you. R.I.P my muzz muzz, say hi to froot loop xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxox omg... sorry... i have to go, sorry.

Oh, no... I cannot express my greatest sympathy right now. I hope you will feel better in time. You did not want her to suffer and you did the right thing. I'm sure she understood and now she's not in pain anymore.

Please accept my deepest sympathy. You and Ozzy were able to spend her last minutes together, and that is a special special time. We all feel your pain and in our thoughts and prayers.
Fly high little one.
God Bless.

Dawne I'm so sorry! last night when I saw that she had passed I bawled my eyes out. This is so sad. You must be beside yourself with sorrow. Dawne you were very brave. It had to have taken some courage to do that, even though he wasn't feeling sick at the time! You gave me very excellent advise when my Merlin and my Tweety passed away, and I will be there for you if need to talk. Call me if you want to. It is good that you found out early that he had that problem. It would've been hard on Ozzy if he had gotten sick and felt bad before you knew what the problem was. I may not be making sense, I'm just so upset. Dawne you are a great mama and don't ever think otherwise! I'll be thinking of you and Ozzy today, as I'm thinking of my Tweety and Stella. RIP little Ozzy, you are so loved and you will be missed! Ozzy, please send my love to Merlin and Tweety!
Dinah, Tweetymom
RIP precious Merlin 7/11/1990-11/17/2009 RIP Tweetylove 5/13/2010 Rest with Merlin

So sorry for you not having your 'sweetest baby girl' Ozzy Your Dr. vet sounded wonderful & helping you. "Bless those wonderful people" who help our babies. You had pictures? you'll always treasure those pictures. "Showed off for the Vet"? A vet had told me that the animals/birds/critters (will do this sort of thing often/alot in the office) You had to do the best and right thing. I've had to put 'down critters' ( many times) I've never forgotten the 'moment' My birds died in my 'hands/home' When I read about you and other's not having your babies anymore? I just want to hold on to my bird and NEVER let him go... Though we know how you must feel, IT doesn't really HELP you:( Oh the many ailments come so Quickly. Our babies are magnifcently healthy one day & we present 'our love, their love' penetratingly confident and proud and it's almost like we're thinking THEY'LL BE WITH US FOREVER and they're gone. And for you and us that 'think properly cared for' ALL the Prevention and EXTRA EXTRA CARE:( I think hurts us the worst. You sweet soul and the majority others here WHO try so hard, who love so hard, 'who go with without groceries (maybe) just to pay our Vet bill/pet's health We watch all the sources of danger and then...THIS HAPPENS. OUR special babies, no 'outward signs' over-night/day our babie's GONE! This is a LONG POST (I always write long posts) <--sorry eye's crossing OMG and you lost your fruitloop too:( All of this has surrounded you. I know we're all praying for you and the others who have lost their babies too recently. Some comfort ( there really isn't any) but sending thoughts of healing (of the SAD heart now?) enough to see through these next days/weeks and more... Multiple heartaches/pain Oh Shakespeare WAS so right ON in 'target' when he said: pain& suffering When SORROWS come, They Come Not SINGLE SPIES! But in BATTALIONS- ALSO using this Thread ( TWEETYMOM) I'm writing this (THINKING of you too) SO very sorry and what a sad week this has been for you and for everyone. Ozzy is gone but in the heart..they all are in the hearts... OH please I pray the babies stay around for a while longer. No more no more will go away... for a while

I couldn't write anything at first, I was choked up when I read this. I am sure anyone who has budgies (or any pet) feels your pain, I know I do. It makes me love and care for my two little friends even more, if that is possible. Truly, the bonds we create with them are unbreakable, special, healing even. I am unashamed to say that I have gotten to know bits of myself that I didn't know before, and I am forever greatful to God and to my darlings.
Please know you are not alone in your grief, I hope you heal from it soon and remember only the best and joyful memories.

I lost Tiki to a tumor back in February and had to have him put down as well. I'm afraid I wasn't as brave about holding him as the shot took effect, though. I was already crying too hard from making the decision.
I'm starting to cry again just thinking about it, so I know how you are feeling. What everyone else has said is true: We do bond with these little ones and we do start to feel like they'll be with us forever. Sadly, that isn't the case.
Ozzy flies free of pain now, and you will see her again at the Rainbow Bridge someday ..,.
