So within the past three weeks, my parakeets will start flying around in their cage so early. Six in the morning! lol. shh, it's early for me. They don't ever get woken up that early, usually no earlier than eight in the morning. And they go to bed around 10-11 at night. Why do they do this?

I don't think this is the same issue, but when I just got my parakeet, he would often go nuts in the middle of the night. He would start flying around the cage like crazy in the dark until I turned on the light. I had to get a bright nightlight for him, and when that didn't work, I just left my table lamp on. I couldn't fall asleep with the light for a while, but got used to it. I thought that was really weird, couldn't figure it out. Now that he is used to the house and started perching on my finger with ease, he seems calm at night as well. Although he does occasionally start flying around at night.

I wonder if it does have to do with spring like illusive fantasy said...

By the way... that is a really cute avatar pic you got there...:D I hope my birdie will learn to eat veggies like that sometime soon!

Can't think of any other reason unless someone else in the house is getting up earlier than usual or something goin on outside that they hear?

that sounds like a bit like nite fright..if something is making some unexpected noise or ya got some kind of critter (spider) etc hanging around man o man they will freak out..mine had nite fright last nite as well for some unknown reason..but im up late and was able to quickly calm him..you should leave a nite light on when covered..and not have him in total darkness for two reasons..one it helps prevent nite fright two if they have a nite fright episode it will calm them quicker..
