I kept asking and asking Bob for help in getting our tree out of the attic (I gave in and let him get us a fake one a year or two ago). Finally today I put my foot down - we were not even going to have it up for Christmas! So we got it down and it's up! It's finally feeling a little like Christmas around here! smile

I imagine those of you who have trees had yours up weeks ago smile

Our house is just today starting to look like Christmas! The tree has been up but undecorated...today everything is looking festive! Now to start baking...

5 days to go! Ho! Ho! Ho!

Geesh, looks like I'm not the only one running a bit behind this year. LOL I just started decorating a few days ago too, and our tree(artificial blah!)was set up a couple days before decorating too. Seemed pretty weird.
Is it just me, or does it just not feel like Christmas should be so soon?
Ah! Don't ho ho yet Kathy,FIVE days!!?? Yikes! I've still got wrapping to do, a couple more things to pick up..and haven't started baking yet! Well..other than I DID mix up some sugar cookie dough and stuck it in the fridge to chill. At this rate it'll be chillin til Xmas eve! Not sure how many dif kinds of cookies will be made this yr. One? hahaha
Bah humbug???!!

I started a little earlier this year, because I'm moving slower, and I usually procrastinate too long. I joke with Marge that I'm going to leave the holiday decorations up all year, but of course she squelches that idea! She loves decorating for all seasons and all holidays (that we observe). And it's not that I wouldn't respect other holidays, but I'm not eager for more "work."

Marge's inside decorations:

And my outside decorations. I didn't do lights around the eaves this year:

I don't do Christmas trees. It just seems like a lot of work each year, and I really don't care about the holidays.

I did hang up some white lights in the house, but not for xmas - just because I like it as indirect, romantic lighting. It stays up permanently.

What is different this year is that I was unpacking some things I had in storage here in AZ and came across a small handful of xmassy things. So I hung them along the kitchen railing that has some of my white lights. And I also grabbed some mistletoe from a nearby tree and hung it in the doorway to kiss under.

So in spite of my complete lack of holiday spirit, I actually have a few things up this year after all. smile

We have an artificial tree and it's almost decorated.

And no, it doesn't feel very Christmassy, yet, to me ~ in spite of the snow.

We have a foot of snow here, so it's very scenic outside!

I do like having the Christmas tree up, it is very relaxing to me. And I did some cleaning in the living room so it's actually fairly neat in here. So I think that helps a lot too.

We don't do any presents though. I don't like buying things or getting things. That being said, I've been working on wine cork projects all December to finally get rid of all my wine corks, so I've been giving people wine cork trivets and wine cork ornaments and so on!

Here's a list of the projects, with photos!

I like the little vase. That could be made to look very Christmassy.

Our problem is that we have plenty of corks, but they are all still in the bottles ~ including several champagne bottles.
I don't drink much & if my husband drinks it will be beer at the pub.
