Well lately sprite has been losing a large amount of feathers including 2 tail feathers. It has been a lot of feathers on the floor of his cage lately and there is a couple of pin feathers I think on his head. But it does not seem like a serious molt I haven't seen any signs of plucking yet but I will keep looking.

Please Help and thanks in advance!

UPDATE: Well I guess I over exaggerated in my first post there isn't too many feathers on the cage but I am still worried this is more feathers than I have seen lately and there is this kind of white powder on perches and under his feet still no signs of plucking.

Is it normal for them to lose tail feathers?

tweety especially in larger parrot you will see the feather dander..powder more readily...almost looks like dandruff..but that does come with when newly forming quills are breaking open to allow new feathers to open...in severe cases of feather loss or mal formed feathers its usually a lack of vit A

Sounds like a typical molt to me too. The white powdery substance is probably the keratin coming off from around the new feathers. I had a good site on molting bookmarked on old comp, hold on and I'll find it. Ok, this is about cockatiels, but it's the same with keets

Like illusive said-a good molting supplement will help Usually comes in a can and doesn't cost much, Also bathing or misting helps with itchiness due to molting.
And yep, they lose tailfeathers too. As a matter of fact, over the past few days Ziggy has lost 2 of his longest tail feathers. He is now a stubby butt! LOL
