Poor little Pip. He's not doing well. He has not grown in any of his flight feathers, even though we have had him since May, so he climbs everywhere.

Last week, he climbed up the curtains to play, even though he knows he isn't supposed to. I was heading over to get him down, and shoo the other two off, when a hawk flew right by the window. All 3 keets freaked out. Peppy and Petey flew into the dining room, but Pip took off and dropped to the floor like a stone. The thud was unbelieveable. The vet said he didn't break anything, but has a badly bruised keel bone. Now he is picking at it, so I know it must hurt him, even though like all keets, he acts like nothing is wrong, and tries to keep up with the other two. It's more than the picking, though. Something's off about him. I think he has to go back to the vet. I don't think he looks right. Wish us luck.

Aww skipper frown I would take him back to the vet too.
Did the vet prescribe anything for pain?
I hope it's nothing more serious than the badly bruised keel bone, and it just needs time to heal.
Best of luck!!!

Oh no!! That's gotta be rough on you too. Good luck and I hope he's just tuckered from healing.

The vet said he is healing. What I thought was a wound is the dark bruise that I could see after his bath, and he isn't actually damaging his skin or his feathers, just fussing with the area because it bothers him.

He is still eating and playing and keeping himself clean. I'm making sure he gets lots of "just for Pip" millet treats.

Thank you for your concern and your kind replies.

What a relief! Phew...I'm so glad it hadn't gotten any worse! I hope he's a fast healer and feels better very soon smile

Poor pip! I hope he is doing well again. It's good to know that he is not furtherly injured or anything. It's also good to know that he isn't knawing at his leg. :] Get well soon!
