I don't know how to prevent this.
I here him trying to climb back on the perch every night but he falls and lands on the bottom of the cage again.
I've put food and water at the bottom just in case he wants to stay on the bottom. Should I take the perches off so he isn't tempted?
I need a lot of tips at the moment...

I am so sorry to hear about your poor little one! can you have some kind of perch-like rest for him on the floor of the cage? He seems to want to perch, but this way he won't be falling anywhere.

TTUB, Do you know what is wrong with him? Has he been seen by a vet?
I am so so sorry. It's so darn hard to watch a pet suffer.
I think I would remove the high perches and put a couple down low..very low. Maybe even make a comfy place on the cage floor for him to rest in a corner. Give him his favorite things to eat so that he is at least eating SOMETHING to keep his strength up.
And spend all the time you can with him so he knows he's not alone smile

We had Nazo pass away from old age last year and Pinto is on her final stages with a tumor right now. So I definitely feel for you in caring for a very ill bird.

Definitely I would talk with a vet. If nothing else they can give you pain medication, I think the one we got was only $5 and they handed it right to us. So that will help your bird be more at peace.

Yes I would remove the perches and set up a comfortable area at the bottom of the cage. Make sure it's very clean - now is the time to start daily cleaning of the cage so they are smelling clean air. Make sure there is water and food and a bathtub down there. I would spend a lot of time with your keet, offer favorite foods, play favorite music.

The smaller cage we have Pinto in, our elderly bird, has perches literally about 1/2" from the bottom of the cage. So very low, she can sit on the perch if she wants or she can sit on the bottom, without worrying about falling. We covered the bottom with soft pine so if she does fall over it is very soft. We have to clean that daily, because of her diarrhea, and that way her air is fresh smelling.

It's also very important to keep providing fresh water, and fresh food. Water especially, so dehydration does not happen.

Especially if your keet has been falling, going to the vet for the pain killer medication could be extremely helpful. Again, it's very cheap and it will really help your keet feel better.

Well, I have been to a vet. He did have a broken leg but the vet said it would heal if you keep giving him water and hand feeding him properly...But...
He didn't make it.
I guess I was little late on reading all of you're posts.
