Saw it, can't remember much of it. Standard disaster movie, some good effects, some lousy cardboard characters.

I enjoyed this movie very much - I love it when scientists are the heroes. There were some interesting concepts, some touching moments, and we also got the great fun of seeing Americans desperate to enter into Mexico.
The scenes of the stratospheric cyclones from space were truly frightening and well done.

I love scientist movies - but it sounds like this is very scary, which would terrify me So I guess this one isn't going on my Netflix queue.

You really should see it, Lisa.
There is only one scene that I would qualify as "scary" - the rest is more "edge of your seat - is he going to make it?" type thrills.

It's not a scary movie at all. There is a ludicrous segment with wolves that annoys me (wolves do NOT attack people) but otherwise it's a standard adventure film.

I don't know, when you read about Russian history they often have packs of wolves in February, when the natural game has run out, coming into villages and making off with a child or something. That must have happened a few times, for it to be a common theme ...?
If you guys promise it isn't that scary, I'll give it a try!

As someone who has studied biology and animal behavior, I find the Hollywood and esp DISNEY treatment of wolves deplorable. But moving on... Not a scary movie. On the level of adventure films, Terminator and Aliens were intended to be scary, and aren't really. I can't watch really scary films or anything violent, so you are really safe here.

OK I *love* the Terminator series and the Aliens series, so I'll go right now and add this one into my queue. Thanks!
