I have to put him down. He is chewing on his leg. (Tumor is on his sciatic nerve.) He doesn't eat much. Just sits and looks out the window.

I had to give Bluebird away because he was nipping him and his feet constantly.

Now having to put this bird down has me really upset!
I hope the vet doesn't charge an arm and a leg for this procedure.

Does anyone know the best way to put my bird out of his misery?

this breaks my heart frown i am sooo sorry for you. after you just gave bluebird away for picking at him. i guess he knew what we didn't. omg, i just can't believe this. you are doing the right thing and that proves you you love him and want what is best for him over your own feelings.
i can't be sure, but i doubt that the charge will be much. it had better not be or i will loose even more faith in vets than i already have.
my heart hurts, i can't begin to imagine what you must be feeling. ((((HUGS)))) i am here if you want to talk. frown

I am sorry to hear this. I feel you should definitely take him to the vet to be euthanized; I certainly hope the vet won't charge you much for doing so.

I must report that YELLOWBIRD has a new personality since he is the only bird. He sings his heart out most of the day. Watches the birds feasting at the bird feeders. Gets real excited by fluttering his feathers, making circles on the perch, screeches and answers the screeches of the wild birds near his window. He does NOT ACT like a SICK bird. I plan on taking him to the other bird vet in the office. Get a second opinion.

Oh wow choirmom! That is so great to hear. I'm so happy for you and Yellowbird. Glad he's getting some quality time and feeling better.
A second opinion is always good. Good for you smile

sending positive vibes to you both, i hope your next trip gives you a better diagnosis. if, God forbid, the diagnosis is the same... yellowbird is happy and enjoying himself and you (and the wild birds! lol) hearing that he is happy and showing it makes my heart smile!
