Yes, I have 5 and while I don't have a ton of money hanging around, I know I can and will come up with the money should they need vet care. They do get check ups.
If you can afford this, go for it. I personally love a big flock. Though guests are not always crazy about the noise they make. Tough, I'm not crazy about company anyway so stay away and leave me to my birds.
