Ok this is the new topic....I bought a magnifying glass and it was a hoot. I looked at Sweetie through the lens and at first he was WHAT!!!

Then he realized he could see me better..HAHAHA

So while I was checking him out and he was checking me out...I saw something NEW!

Sweetie is about three years old now and the little cheek patch that started out as one tiny dot has grown. I mean I knew it had gotten bigger but it has actually grown to THREE separate dots ..

So this is the topic...What major difference in your keets have you seen that surprised you or has occured and tell us about them.

You may have to take another good look...but take stock and come back and tell us.

I am wondering now that Sweetie will be Three years old July first if a new cheek dot comes every year...Does anyone know?

just watchin them and playing with them. the open cage policy is working well. they all gather in one cage of another, usually all 5 in the little cage! too funny!

My Cookie has light colored cheek patches and I used to think they were white until one day in the natural light, I realized they were Light Light Blue. He does not have a darker dot in the middle.

When they used to show budgies,,,and maybe they still do this...They would snip off the little round feathers that look like peacock eyes that surround the throat of Yellow face budgies that have green and blue bodies. They would only leave the number of feathers they wanted.

Cookie is on the left, he is a double dominant pied. He has light lemony yellow base color with aqua blue rump and sky blue patch on tummy. Head stripes with a yellow strip across head and light light blue cheek patches. He has iris rings. Sweetie is on the right, he is a recessive pied and he is darker lemony yellow with a lime green tint. He has sky blue on his rump and lower tummy. He has white cheek patches with dark blue spots and dark eyes without iris rings. They both have a blue shoulder spot on the same shoulder in the same spot and about the same size. Sweetie is 3 July 1 and Cookie is 2 years 4 months born Feb 1 Sweetie is a boy and Cookie we think is a boy. His cere is light blue but he may be the type of bird that the cere does not get dark. Sweetie's cere will always be lavender.
