Just curious. Calvin, our 4 month old, male budgie, used to chirp, loudly, all the time. Now he spends most of the day making this sweet, warbly, sing-songy noise. This has been going on for a few weeks now. Have you noticed changes in how your birds vocally express themselves? Do they go through stages? Thanks.

I have noticed the same thing about Sky coloradogirl. Although I will say that she stilll chirps loudly which I don't mind. Before she would do it all the time.. now she only does it when she is "excercising" and flying all around her cage. But for the remiander of the day, she warbles and coos in the sweetest little tones... I bought sky on Oct 1st and they told me at the time that she was about 5-7 weeks old

When you come over, don't forget a pillow. Just in case... "the SKY is falling! the SKY is falling!"

Gebo has also been expanding his range of sounds.

He has started to imitate the birdy sounds I make to him, but so far no talking.

Keeber was silent for the first three days after homecoming, but has gone through a range of sounds too. He used to chirp loudly a lot when excited, and next he added the excited (and I think mad) acking - he did it when I added the lid to the food dish and when he wants to come out and can't figure out how to get to the door. Yesterday he did it when he had crash landed and I tried to put him on my finger. He likes the perch. Most often, though, these days he makes the sweet warbling sounds. He likes the sewing maching, the water running, Chanticleer, and the tv in the late evenings. Also seems to enjoy my typing on the computer next to him. I love his little sounds smile so sweet! - muselle

Parakeets will make a variety of noises. They don't really go through stage with noises...it is more about what mood they are in.

^^ Here is a list of noises your parakeet makes and what they mean.
