I visit one genealogy forum, regularly, and others from time to time. I've joined an English lit forum, but can't even remember its name.

I used to be very involved in a local history forum, until it closed down. The owner found that it was just too much worry, to deal with trolls, vulgarity, insults, etc.

I visit lots of non-forum sites for information, etc.

This, of course, is the forum I visit most often.
Most of the time I enjoy it, but sometimes it can get a bit fraught. smile

Interesting question, CM! (and cute new avatar!)

Pudgie was much more interactive and less fearful than I had expected. I was pleasantly surprised that she adjusted quickly and learned "step-up" within a week! She's a gutsy & spunky little fluff-ball smile

Right now I only have my dog Abbey and of course my keet Levi.
I must say that neither are what I expected.
I've had dogs/puppies all my life but when I got Abbey as a pup of 7 wks old she was sooo smart for being just a baby. She never "went" in the house. Ever. She never chewed anything she wasn't supposed to and she learned sit, shake, lay down within minutes of teaching her.I swear she must be part human because she understands everything you say. You can't even spell things in front of her because she can spell!Sometimes I think she is even psychic because I'll be watching tv and thinking about going outside for a quick cig during the next commercial and she's suddenly right there in front of me waiting to go out with me. HOW does she know I'm going out before I even say anything? hmm And if I plan to be going somewhere for the day she gets all mopey before I even say I'm going somewhere.
And Levi is so much more fun, and smart and playful than I ever imagined a bird could be.I had no idea how intelligent and personable these little guys can be. I also knew that some keets could talk but I wasn't counting on the fact that he would and now he does smile
All in all they both go way beyond my expectations. I guess I lucked out with both of them.

And they lucked out with you, also. You know, I think that pet "owners" for the most part are pretty special.

Well Louie was my first keet outside my parents house. He/she (still not sure) is very sweet. I kinda expected a stand-offish bird. And Louie totally loves to cuddle. Peeps was my greatest suprise. I did not want to keep her. I was just doing a favor for a friend and had planned to re-home her. But she quickly won us both over with her crazy antics and spunky personality. She will forever have been my favorite bird.
Basil was exactly what I expected. Spunky, nosey, busy and chatty. Edgar is totally opposite. I thought he would act more like a parakeet but he is very much like a little old man. He is the most calm and "whatever" bird I have owned. He really has this laid back attitude.

Patches well.. he is very odd. The screaming thing is not what I expected. I truely am having a hard time bonding too him. However, he loves my husband.

RIP Peeps

My son had Boo for a few months an he was completely trained by the time he was given to us. From the start, he was MY little companion. He was sweet at times and extremely stubborn other times. He was a smart as can be, and always sensed when someone wasn't feeling well. He quickly won over my husband. The first thing hubby did when he came home from work was give Boo a kiss. Hubby had so much trouble leaving for work in the morning because Boo wouldn't get off of his shoulder.
We'd lay in bed early in the morning and wait for that first little chirp. Boo always let us know it was time to get out of the cage. Biggest problem, he hated going back to his cage.
We had 4 years of joy with him and I miss him more and more each day. He's buried in front of my house and we talk to him everyday. My neighbors must think i'm crazy as they watch me talk to the grass. LOL

Strange, eh? Is your husband willing to spend time training Patches? Then he (the bird) can transfer his affection to you eventually, although I'd hoped that Louie, Edgar, and Basil would straighten him out! smile

So it seems like this has died off a bit.
Well I will try for a new question.
Do you celebrate Valentines day or do you think its a waste of time and another ploy to get our money?

RIP Peeps
