I've been in a situation like that. a very close friend of mine husband was cheating on her and I over heard them talking making plans.he had the nerve to tell me to keep quiet and I told that it was non of my business and everything gets reveal at some point.a couple of years later she found out on her own.they broke up for a while and then got back together.they have been sweetheart since grade school.

For Monday, January 5, 2009:
What should a visitor to your area experience? It may be something that you haven't even done or seen or gone to, yet.
And it may be something that is not well known or even publicized.

We're 50 miles away from the beach - St. Augustine or Flagler, and St. Augustine is fun to visit.
There's Gainesville, about 40 miles away, and basketball games at the University of Florida campus.
On the way to Gainesville, there is a butterfly aviary. I haven't been there yet, but plan to take our grandson.
The town closest to us, Palatka, has the St. Johns River running through it, and there are a number of good restaurants.
Silver Springs is about an hour's drive, and the glass bottom boats allow you to see through the very clear water some very interesting views.
But there's really no place like home.

Chuckle. Lady Di, I quite agree. Philadelphia would not be the same without you.

Hmmm...not much to do in the high desert but one thing I love doing is to go walking thru the Joshua Tree forest...or that is what I call it anyway...lol!
Here up in the high desert, Palmdale to be exact..we have a lot of Joshua trees thruout but there are a few areas where it is just tons and tons, masses and masses of them all together...the desert being still very much undisturbed and not developed in these areas. To me it is very beautiful especially when the trees are abloom with their large flowers. I love these trees because each one is so different, two never the same. Each has their own wonderful shape.
Often you can see gorgeous Ravens atop these trees as well as various other birds. I also like to watch the cute little lizards run up and down the trunks.
The Joshua trees were especially beautiful just a few weeks ago when we got over 9 inches of snow...a rarity here up in the high desert(24 years since this much snow). We might get a dusting of snow once a year during the winter. Well, a few weeks ago because of that rare load of snow the Joshua trees got covered in beautiful, white glistening snow and were so very beautiful to look at. Walking thru the snow covered "Joshua tree forest" was such a pretty little adventure.

Very interesting. In San Diego, I lived in a place called Lomita Village and worked in El Cajon. (a couple of times, during my first marriage). We could drive to the mountains, or to the desert, within 30 minutes to an hour.
But I've never really been to the desert (except for the parts that the interstates and other roads go through, which I don't think qualify as desert).

Never too late.
Marge had planned to take some short-term traveler nursing contracts after this Spring - when she can work without the federal government penalizing her social security retirement income. That way we could visit my kids in California, go up to Oregon and Washington, go to Alaska, to Hawaiia.
But hospitals are tightening up on taking traveler nurses now, with the economy plummeting. Also, Marge's Mom is living with us now, and is recuperating from some medical problems. So major traveling is just not in the picture.
I'd like to see Philadelphia.
When Marge travel-nursed in Rochester, NH, in Fall, 2002 (our apartment was in Dover), we took the train to Boston, and had a great time seeing the sights.
And when we'd travel to Portland, Maine, to see our grandkids, we'd explore - seeing covered bridges, lighthouses, tall ship festivals, apple festivals, and looking for Americana (the room that MIL is now in we called the Americana room, but all of it has come down now, and Mom's stuff will be going up).
And when the snow came, her contract was up, and we got to go to San Diego. Marge grew up in upstate New York, and does not want to live in snow ever again.
Marge is the love of my life.
