Marge and I were watching the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (American pro football) win their game in overtime. The game was a real "nail-biter" - unlike when we watched our University of Florida Gators (American college football) win yesterday.
In the excitement of the win, I announced to Trippi - my attentive and faithful calico Princess kitty, who was hanging out by my leather shoe laces (which she likes to untie and play with):
"Treats for All!"
She followed me through the house while I got the bag of treats, and cut off the top so I could open it and pour some in a bowl for her and bring it back to the living room.
Who says that animals don't understand your words?
Marge is the love of my life.

Haha, animals can easily catch onto words. Both my dogs go crazy when we say, "Wanna treat?". They both jump up on us, and follow us to the jar of treats. XD

I think they understand ALOT more than we give them credit for.Our dog understands everything we say lols I can say to someone "Where's the dog?" and she comes wandering out of where ever she was like "I'm right here" Or when I say Dinners ready, she's the first one to the table. We can't even spell things anymore because she learned what we're spelling! Not only do they understand what we're saying, they sense things too. If they only had a voice I bet they'd have a lot to offer

Yeah. When Marge and I are going off, like for a day, or into the bedroom at night (closing the door, because Trippi would follow us in, and claws just don't mix well with a water bed), we'll say to Trippi: "Guard the house, Trippi!"
Of course, that's a real joke, as most people see very little of her, and if someone broke in, her attitude would be "Every cat for herself!"
Anyway, when we say, "Guard the house!" she gets this concerned look on her face, like ohhhh, do you HAVE to leave?
She especially can't understand us going off to bed just when it's getting to the part of the day (the night) when it's time to party. Ha. LOL. We leave it with her. She can party without us.

When we were broken into, I swear that it was our cat who scared them off and prevented them from coming into our bedroom.
And if I now ask one of our cats 'where's your sister?' or 'where's the other one?' you can guarantee that 'the other one' will come out of her hiding place.

Trippi may have been like that at one time (scaring off intruders), because when she first came to our home, she was like Royalty - the Princess - to our outside, semi-feral cats Smokey and Tuffy, and she was quite fearless.
Our place is in a wooded area, and we've cleared two of the five acres, but we have deer, raccoons, possums, hawks, snakes, and all the other things (don't know if we have bear, or not). Anyway, in December, 2006, Trippi was mauled outside pretty bad. We didn't think she'd live. And we're still doing wound care on her every two or three days, although the wound is down to about an inch and a half by two inches, and it's just the skin and fur that has to slowly grow together.
If we could afford it, a hyperbaric kind of treatment facility could have healed her wound faster, and possibly she could have had a graft. But she's come a long way!
Anyhow, she's more timid about strangers than she used to be.
Now, if they tried to pick her up, that'd be different.
I have to pick her up and hold her for the wound care, and she endures it, but she likes the being picked up almost as little as she likes the wound care.
If she comes to your lap for pets, she has to be "free" to come and go as she pleases. And we respect that.
Marge is the love of my life.

Lotta love there!
The game can go either way, Nancy. Y'all knocked us down a few pegs last year. By the way, I went to the U. of GA from '61-63 and '67-69. But I graduated in San Diego - Point Loma College.
Most weeks I pull for both teams, and usually on that game, I pull for the Dawgs and Marge (my wife) for the Gators. But that Saturday, I knew Marge would be way outnumbered, so I wore the Gators colors.
I love to sing the GA "Glory song" - especially the ending.

I got sally a UGA outfit but she growls at me when I try to put it on her..maybe she pulls for them gators to lol.

Guess she just wants to be your main Dawg!
Those are my two favorite teams, also. When I went to UGA, I never thought I'd pull for FL, though. Back in those days - before Spurrier, even - they had a quarterback who was really short (and my hero, since I'm only 5' 6") - trying to remember his name. Liberatore, or something like that. I think they called him the "flea" or something funny. Anyhow he was good.
When I arrived in FL, I started pulling for the Bucs, and then when I met Marge, she and her family are for upstate NY, and so they were bigtime Buffalo Bills fans. I converted them all to be Bucs fans. But, in the process, and because of going to some games with friends, I also started following and pulling for the Gators.
Can't like the Seminoles or Dolphins, though.
I was born in Bainbridge, and my family are from outide town in a little area known as Faceville.
Marge and I taped the game, and we were wanting to watch it to see how the Gators celebrated, or if they did, at the end. Did they act okay? We didn't get to see the ending too much because of the birthday party for my 83 yo Mother.

I missed the ending also because my meds knocked me out. I have torn the net up trying to find a place to watch it again or at least the highlights lol.

We've got in on Tivo, so I'll let you know. This link will take you to the GatorZone. When you get there, you can click on the "View a Sample" of the GatorVision "Florida Football Postgame Coverage." It's slanted of course, to FL, and it didn't show any postgame celebration. There are some good audio clips, and also some good postgame notes from both FL and GA coaches and players. I saw nothing, yet, though, about a postgame celebration, so it seems like they must have kept it under control. I would expect that from Urban Meyer. He's quite a guy. GatorZone

I used to hate football lol. My late husband was a HUGE fan though and made me watch or listen to it throughout the house lol. then I watched a game one time, Dawgs and Tenn and uga went after the ref lol. After that I watched it just to see what uga would do next For pro football id have to say I pull for the 9ers or Packers. anything but the falcons or cowboys lol. Buddy played some football in highschool but he hurt his shoulder and had to have sugery on it and when it healed up he just never wanted to pick it back up again. Not from fear but he decided he wanted to go into nursing and taking care of people. then I just kept up watching it with him and now im hooked to it along with wrestling and nascar lol. He used to tell me I was his tomboy wife. the first game he took me to was a 9ers game and he was for the other team....so when his team scored and our side was xcheering I was yelling at the ref and rooting for the other team so he told me he wasnt gonna take me again but he always did.

animals do understand alot more than people think they do. when i tell my keet pear its bedtime he tries to get out of his cage by slipping past me while im closing the door to his cage. he has many times and then flys away . sometimes it takes a half hour to catch him. the funniest part is sometimes he escapes a couple times and im sure it has become a fun game for him. so i dont mind and he gets additiional exercise and he is a great sleeper and never wakes up until i take his cover off his cage. he sleeps from ten at night till eight am.

thanks for the link ill be watching it all day tomorrow now lol. You do understand that the link is not for the entire game, but just highlights (and of the gators, at that)? In the postgame notes section, there are some good quotes from coaches and players, from both sides, however. I just found this on YouTube: PostgameCelebration And here's one that starts with last year's UGA celebration and the highlights this year's game: Highlights

Marge and I both saw each other's ads (first and only time either of us had ever done that) in a Tampa Tribune paper. Turned out we both liked music and sports. And also turned out we like each other. We have fun together. We both got interviewed in San Diego when the Bucs were there for their Super Bowl win (and 3 segments aired on the Evening news).

I think it's the interaction that they (and we) value the most. It's like the games that kids (and grandkids) have with us. Once a particular "game" is learned, you just gotta do it the same way. By game, I mean the things that you do each time - like your keet "escaping."

Trippi hears me when I get up in the morning and start to move around in the bedroom, before coming out into the living room. And she's right there by the door, waiting for me.
