Do any of your birds eat okra? I have a bunch of garden fresh, pesticide-free, okra that I grew in the garden I inherited when my neighbors moved and left it to go, and was wondering if anyone else's birds eat it?

Tried it. Big failure! LOL

Maybe if I mixed it with some other veggies that they will eat!

Okra is kinda slimey, so I am not too sure if they would like the texture of it. If you have adventurous eaters, who love most veggies, give it a try. I don't think it could hurt them. I like Okra coated with cornmeal and fried....not recommended for the keeties.

Well, my Ringneck loved it! But she'll eat just anything I give her, so no big surprise that she ate it!

if you wash the okra, let it dry, and then sautee it in a little olive or veggie oil, it doesn't get slimy. I love it too but I haven't tried to feed it to my birds. I just picked some up at the farmer's market so maybe when I cook it, I'll give them a nibble.

What about beans? I picked up fresh lima beans too, but I'm hesitant to give any to the birds. Don't want them gassy. Does anyone feed their birds any kinds of beans or lentils?

It's also good cooked with stewed tomatoes and served with rice. And it's good cooked with corn, onions, red and green peppers...now I'm going to have to go buy some smile
