On this site there is a list of vets:
http://www.lisashea.com/petinfo/Vets/

Lisa introduces it as 'visitor-supplied ratings and information about Veterinarians around the world'.

The thing you need to remember is that a list, provided by visitors, to Lisa and her site, may not, necessarily, include those people who Lisa / the site would recommend, personally, and vice versa.

I don't know these vets, and Lisa, presumably, knows only the vets that she has had dealings with.

It is always best to check out vets, if you can, before seeing them. Personal recommendations are probably best.

If not personal ones, then those you can find on forums or review sites.

However, in saying that, a member has had a very negative experience at a practice where references I have found on the Internet have been very good.

I understand that others have, though, found less complimentary posts.

Just be careful ~ or as careful as you can. smile

I came across an article that gives some good tips on finding an Avian vet, and how to know if the vet you have is good. I found it to be very interesting and informative, and I think others will too.

Thanks so much, Jasper's Mom, that is a fantastic site! Every bird owner should keep it nearby
I just moved and am currently interested in taking Boo to a Vet that is very close to my new house. Here's the question.....what exactly does it mean when it says "member of Association of Avian Vets? Does this mean that he is certified or merely a member? His qualifications look outstanding, but now I'm starting to question things. I just went on the website for The American Board of Veterinary Practitioners and I am amazed how few Certified Avian Vets there are.

in order to be an avian veterinarian, they have to go to school for a longer period of time taking special courses in avian medicine.

I checked and my vet is listed but no city, just MI. There are actually 4 vets together, all women and although only 1 is certified avian they are all really good and experienced with birds and will get second opinions among themselves.
