Okay, so someone had posted in a discussion information about a website called petfinder. Well, I just had to go get nosy and look local and see if there were any birds. (We all know about the addiction of keets!)

Anyway, I did find a bird rescue remotely near me...well, two hours away. I was so amazed, this person has no funding and has opened this bird rescue in her home at her own expense, then she relocates the birds to new homes. Anyway, she had two keets, Sweet & Sour for adoption. I wrote to just get a little informationon them and for info about their adoption fees and the location of the facility.

She wrote back and said that the birds are still available...as not many people have interest in keets...just the larger birds. She only wanted an adoption fee of $5 each (including a cage)but would waive it, as I have so far to go! She just wants them to find a good home...she said she would take donations, etc., but I was just amazed.

However, now I have to wait for the approval of my husband! He is not keen on any more and six would be a great little flock in my opinion, but I'm not sure he's sold.

I'm really hoping! Here's their pic. They have the cockatiel for adoption too and she has some more exotic birds...then a poor love bird that was born with splayed legs...the owner never fixed them...so it is an adult that needs special care. =( I guess it gets around well in its own specialized cage environment. Anyway, that's my story for the day. I'll update if I get an answer from my hubby...one more thing...she is willing to meet me half way, so I only would have to drive an hour! The birds are a couple years old though...so older than my flock. They are supposedly male and female, I can't tell from the pic. Anyway, here they are. =)

What a sweet woman! I really hopeyou can convince your husband. The lime green keet looks gorgeous and the blue onehas the same markings and color as Flappsie. smile

I was thinking the same thing...I couldn't tell if the head was white or yellow...maybe my eyes are playing tricks on me. =) At any rate, they are both so beautiful...I tried to convince him, but manipulation doesn't always work. LOL...kidding...I just told him the pro's and couldn't think of many cons...he thinks it will be too expensive, since I've spent so much recently on the cage, toys, perches, etc. I told him, I'm set for a good while now...I can rotate things in and out and the only thing will be food. I hope to know tonight. I'm not going to nag him about it...men don't like to be nagged. At least not my hubby...if he doesn't mention it, I might...we'll see.

You're right ... I think I see some yellow in his/her head. smile But he thinks they're too expensive? It's only $10 for the both of them, right? Tell him that you'll be saving 2 lives, instead of buying from a store.

Not too expensive now...$10 is very inexpensive...he means for the long haul...6 keets total...that's what he's saying is expensive. =( I only clean on the side...cause I'm an at home Mommy...I think I could swing it! =) Still waiting patiently for the reply.
