If anyone else has the Penn-Plax wooden play gym with a ladder, swing and rope perch...beware...I was just sitting watching my keets play...there is a plastic toy that attaches...it's a circle of sorts with a moon shape at the bottom. I was enjoying watching Pecksie play with it until she got her head stuck in the cresent moon! I'm not kidding...I had to go rescue her...what if I'd been in another room...I'm removing that piece permanently and I would advise anyone else with the same gym to do likewise...she couldn't get free...like a kid sticking their head through rails or something...they don't know how to get out, well, neither do the keets. Just a heads up for everyone! =)

I'm adding a link so you can see what gym it is...you can't see the cresent piece it's behind the wood, but it's there...it's green...anyway, just so you know...

Good information to share. I don't have one but will try to store the info in my swiss cheese brain and see if I can keep it from leaking out! LOL

4Keets, thanks for the heads up!

You should write a product review and include the info about your bird's head getting stuck! She could have hung herself!!! frown

Good info. I'm glad Pecksie wasn't hurt.

I did, went right to petco to write a review. She really was hanging herself...I was so shocked...one minute..thinking how cute...look at her play...the next minute...OH NO! She's hanging in that thing and can't get out! She seem okay...didn't act traumatized thankfully. I was literally feet away, so was quick to get her out.

I've been noticing some new toys out that dont seem parakeet safe. There are some chime toys that have bungie rope coils that I think would get tangled up around a keet. I think some of these toys would be alrigt with a cockateil but not for a keet.

Tell me what you guys think of these?
I bought the one with out the curls on it.

The bungee part doesn't look very large...have you received them yet...I"m wondering the width...from the pic, I'm thinking it wouldn't wrap around the neck, but maybe a leg...I don't know...it will be interesting to see what everyone else thinks.

The rope part of that gym is a safety hazard as well. The individual threads can wrap tightly around a birds toes and if it goes unnoticed long enough they could lose their toe.

Same goes for pieces of long hair, someone had that happen to them on here, thank goodness they caught it before it became serious!

Wow, thank you for letting me know. I wish I could write to the manufacturer to complain. I might look into it.
