I didn't think that they were ... but there are many domesticated birds that have escaped and then made colonies of wild birds in the world. California has some Quakers if I'm not mistaken.

Zebra finches are native to Australian grasslands. In my opinion I think they're about as close to wild birds as you can get and would probably thrive in the wild.

They even have Quakers in northern Illinois. Escape colonies.

Yes, but quakers are used to freezing tempertures from the Andes mountains. Finches... they might have escaped from an owner.

Right now I have a male and female zebra finch living at my house. I also have a female cordon blue finch and a female owl finch. They are so cute and fun to watch but they are wild definitely.
They actually belong at my mom's work. I was visiting there recently and figured out that they have air sac mites. I volunteered to take them home and treat them. It can not be transfered through the air but I still have them on the other side of the house.
This is why I knew about the medicines you can add to water. You can't really catch finches to give them oral medicine. I tried oral Baytril and Bene-Bac with the female zebra and it was nearly impossible. They don't have hookbills like parakeets so we had to use a mini plastic discount card to pry her beak open! When we started treating all 4, we turned to the water medicines! After the air sac medicine, I plan on giving probiotics for 2 days. Then they will get an antibiotic for 5 days to take care of any respiratory infections they may have from the mites. Then a few more days of the probiotic. I have to repeat the mite medicine for 2 days for the next 3 weeks.
They had better get better!!
