Just another thing I heard from the vet that took care of Cloud... She noticed that I had a bell hanging on a dish for him (this is his FAVORITE toy). She told me to switch it to a stainless steel bell because of the high lead content in a lot of the bells. She said she has been seeing a lot of lead poisonings due to the toys that the birds are playing with. Time to go shopping for me!!!

what kind of bell did you have and what are teh stainless steel ones just the silver?

Thanks for the tip. I'm not sure how to tell one with lead from another, though --- aluminum wouldn't stick to a magnet, but stainless steel would, but is it the aluminum ones that have lead? (This whole issue of lead in bird toys [and kids' toys] makes me so angry...)

On a different note: Cloud is such a gorgeous birdy!

The ones I have now are copper (I believe) I buess like an gold color. The stainless steel ones I gues are like silver in color. The vet told me to look in Birdtalk magazine or online and they could be found there.

I could not be positive in that because I did not know that mine was a health hazzard until the vet saw the bell in his cage and told me that mine had possible lead in in. I guess the best way to put it is when in doubt through out (or change in this case). I guess when the next bel is bought I will check and see if the packaging states what the bell is made of or make sure that it says stainless steel.
