I am thinking of getting a heated perch for my keets Mia and Vincent, but have heard some reports of parakeets getting burned feet from them! Any advice?

i wouldn't either... and why do you want one? if it gets a bit chilly in your house, then get them some other products such as warm covers for their cage... cozy huts... those corner fuzzy things... etc...

I am a little afraid of things that heat up since my aquariium heater malfunctioned and cooked my fish.

Okay so yall advise against the heated perch thing, but my house doesn't have central heat and I can't afford to leave the gas space heater on all day for the birds. I don't want to leave them covered all day. So what else do yall suggest?

On the thread "my tiel Smokey," BigBadMomma has offered to relay questions we have to her vets, so I've asked her to inquire about the whole winter issue (how cold is too cold, what about heated perches, etc.) Maybe her vets can clear this up a bit...

Also, as LLPB suggested, there are cozy huts and those fuzzy triangular-shaped things (I think one company calls them Birdy Buddies or something like that). The idea is to put them in the bird's sleeping spot and they can retain body heat and "snuggle" into the fabric.

lol I can't even get P and P up on my finger....how in holy heck am I supposed to get them in a snuglly hut....and I saw your post pudmom and thought yay. Pudge just gets up in my bed and nests in the covers, but I don't think there is enough room for him and the P's. I can cover them with warm stuff at night, but the heat is on then. I need something for while I am at work. So thanks for posting on the other thread.
