They like to sit on a wooden branch in the back of their cage. I added a manzanita branch today (and I bought a comfy rope perch but dont have the room for it yet, as well as a sand perch) but they seem to prefer their old wood one.

I bought it at PetSmart today, suprisingly getting the three perches I bought weren't as expensive as I expected (total was under 20)

Ohh the original wooden perch. Its also a branch but I dont think its manzanita, but I also got that one from PetSmart.

I have a question..I currently feed the birds mostly seed with an occasional treat, and I try to feed them fresh veggies (But they wont touch them so far)..I have heard of pelleted diets, and I was wondering if maybe I should switch them to that instead of seeds?

Well you don't want to just immediately switch them to a pellet diet only you need to introduce them to pellet's first. I would start by putting the pellet's in a seperate dish because if you mix it with there seed's they will just pick out the pellet's and eat seed's. They might take right to it and it could take month's for them to start eating pellet's but it is not impossible. I was able to get a 7-9 yr old bird who never had fresh veggies or pellets to eat them after a short period of time. So don't give up on the fresh veggies either. So yes pellet's are very healthy for them but also know that the brand you get they may or may not like it and you might have to try a different one. Try to get the really small ones if possible.

With the fresh veggies have you tried buying some hemp string ( You can get it at bead & fabric stores) and tying for example some broccoli to it and hanging it in there cage? If not give it a try if you can this has been very successful with not only my keet's but other's on here as well.

Heh...I told my mom that they both look like males, and now she wants to return Cabbie to get a female. Don't worry though, I won't let her return him. I know 18x30x30 is supposed to be a cage for 2 birds..but I'd rather get a third than return one just because she doesn't like its not a female. I think they've already bonded, they like to stand close to one another and one will often follow the other from perch to perch. And if they haven't bonded, I CERTAINLY have gotten to love them in the last few days!

Although..I don't think I'd get a third quite yet. Maybe in a few months, but not yet. We have some wood litter left over from Dad's last parakeet, and she wants to use that up before moving to newspaper. Its..really messy, heh. I'm worried that bacteria is gonna grow in it or something and get the birds sick..I'm concerned it has been kept in the garage for at least two years without being disturbed so it doesn't take much thought to consider there is likely something in it. I'd rather just switch to newspaper but technically they are her birds..despite the fact I'm the one taking care of them and training them and all.

I might be getting a cat soon (its a rescue), and I was wondering if that's a good idea considering I have the keets? I don't want to catch the cat with feathers in its mouth..and I know cats are predators to them. So I was wondering if its at all possible that I could have both and everything would be fine?

Also, I was doing the usual dowel rod training with Budgie and Cabbie today, and Budgie started talking back to me while he was standing on it. ^^'

I have a cat and a budgie and really I have no problem as long as the cat cant get to the budgie. i keep him very high up, or you could keep you budgies in a separate room where the cat can't go but I doubt that the budgies and the cat can manage to live without the cat eating the budgies.
