what do u mean? what i was doing is i hold the millet in 1 hand, and hold it far from him and put my finger in the middle of him and the millet, and push up on his belly and he steps up to eat and i hold him to eat for like 30 secs and put him near some perch and he gets down, is what im doing good or no? how do i make him to allow me to walk around the house without him flying away? i can walk a bit but then he flys back, i know i need to get his trust more but thats my question, how do i get his trust more other than doing the millet thing and talking to him

Okay, so they know it's safe to stand on your finger. That's a good start.

Since right now you already have them expecting millet when they step on your hand, I wouldn't stop using it. But what I think you need to do is teach them come to you.

Hold your hand near them, or one of them, but don't push on their bellies. That way they only can get the millet if they come to you _voluntarily_, instead of just stepping onto your finger because you push them off balance. There's a big difference between them putting up with you making them step on your finger, and them _choosing_ to do it.

So at first, you hold your finger very close, so they can just step onto it, but not touching them. (Once they'll do that, you start holding it a bit farther, so they have to hop, and eventually fly to you.) It might take a while for them step up onto you without being forced, but don't give up. It will probably go quicker if you don't give them millet at any other time.

And also, whichever one you're holding your hand near, make sure you say his name when you are telling him to step up, so he'll associate his name with you wanting him to come to you.

(The eventual goal is to get them to come when you call, even from across the room. If you always use their names, they won't be confused about whether "step up" means them or not, when your hand isn't right in front of them.)

to lamon: well fernanade's question is a good one. it does depend on how many keets u have. but to do a out of cage training. u should first, take them out, against their will (im sad to say) but make sure they arent that scared. take them to a bathroom (its the safest room) close the door and put downt he toilet seat. then just let him go. he might fly around, but once he settles down pick him up, and he should let you. place him on you shoulder, and if u have long hair like i do (least to ur shoulder) he should be really happy. walk around the bathroom, wash ur hands, sit on the toilet seat.. u get the drift. and if he stays, leave the bathroom and do other stuff. leave him on ur shoulder for maybe 3 or 4 hours (make ur u have a tissue on ur shoulder..) poop piles up. do that, and then tell him how its going =)

ok first of all i have 2 keets, and yes today i made him step up in the cage and i took him out of the cage and put him on top of the cage, he didnt resist or fly back in, then my other keet just flew on his own on the top of the cage too, now today i tried making them step WITHOUT millet and it worked very well too, im afraid for 1 keet tho, my other keet just does not want to step, what should i do regarding that? he gets used to me more and more, he sat on my hand 2 times today when he say that the keet that interacts with me more was sitting on my finger, he will step on a wooden perch tho, thats how i get them back in the cage because when they are walking on top of their cage they dont want to step up or anything like that, now, i thought i need to say " UP" when i want him to step up, not his name. should i say his name? when do i say "up" and btw, i did another thing today, i made him step on my finger with a little force, then he was on my finger, i raised my finger higher and then i placed my other hand's index finger near his belly, i DID NOT touch him, i just said up and he put his leg up and stepped on my other finger without force! i tried again and he did it again, now regarding the bathroom, i never got them into the bathroom, should i get him into the bathroom? btw they love takin a bath, i have a small bath with a mirror and they both take a bath in it, oh and how should i take him to the bathroom by itself? im afraid he will fly back when he sees hes the only one im taking(and leaving the other keet in the cage)

i really dont want to catch him and hold because ppl here on the forum told me it makes them loose my trust, i dont want to do that now do i, and why exactly should i take them to the bathroom? so they sit on my shoulder? why would they sit on my shoulder in the bathroom and not in the living room? i mean whats the difference? and should i call him by his name when i want him to step up or just say "UP", and how do i make him learn his name?
