Bud is a rough camper when it comes to comfort in her little nest. She won't stop scraping out of the way any nesting material there is! I tried putting timothy hay in there, I tried pine shavings, I tried fluff... she just scrapes it all out of the way!

Is it because she has to bring the stuff into the nest herself or because she's a freak? (I think she's a freak. I love my freak.)

Some are fussier than others. I have some that will happily accept the nesting material I put in there while others just refuse to have anything to do with it and I'm sure they're swearing at me as they remove the material. I leave scraps of it around the aviary and let those ones collect it themselves.

I really don't know what to tell you. The word "Freak" is a little harsh isn't it?

:P Bud is a freak and I'm sure she's proud of it. She's doing so many quirky stuff she must enjoy creeping us out.

So I should leave scraps of it around? In a feeder or some sort, perhaps? Thing is, knowing her, she'll probably just take the material and throw it around. Whatever I put in there, she'll make sure to destroy it or throw down on the carpet.

The name 'freak' brings to mind a good friend of mine. His nickname is freak and he got it when he was very young from his parents and it was meant in a kind way. So today if anyone calls him by his correct name most of us wonder just who they're talking about.
