I have not intentions of breeding birds, BUT I am SOOOOO glad this is here now.
All the breeding questions were littered thoughout the other topics, and considering how important those questions are, compared to the general chit chat I was concerened they may get lost (missed) or un answered.

Oooh if only there was an avian vet to join this section or a student almost done the program that needed volunteer hours that would make it perfection.

PDM-Did you have a keet as a child? Yes, our family had a blue budgie called 'Beauty'. We had him for quite a few years, from the late 1950s or early 60s. Mum tried to teach him (I think it was a him) to talk and he would come out with a few things that sounded like 'Hello Beauty', etc, but nothing too clear, as far as I remember. He was fed on 'Trill' and always had a cuttle bone. I think Mum occasionally allowed him out of his cage when I was at school, so that I wouldn't run in and open a door. Back then birds did tend to be just kept in their cages ~ and relatively small cages at that. I have been trying to find a photo on the Internet that reminds me of Beauty & his cage. My parents decided that moving him back and forth wasn't good for him, so he then stayed with my grandparents. We were a bit upset, obviously, but we saw him very regularly. He eventually developed a tumour and died ~ but he was quite old by then. I understand that this is quite a common problem with budgies.

You have actually brought back some very nice memories.
We also had a cat ~ but she never seemed to bother the budgie ~ I suppose it depends on what they are used to ~ and maybe that's another reason for the bird spending quite a lot of time in his cage.

omm Well my parakeets says in her cage and she still loves to play with me and stuff. Some parakeets just like to be in their cages. Like my little noel. She loves her cage.
