Okay, so I was at the pet store again today. (I really have to stop going so much )
Anyway I saw litter that is made for the bottom of a bird cage.

I know, I know, but just listen first.

It is made by Kaytee and it is scoopable, flushable litter, just like kitty litter.
Except this is made from 100% recycled paper and is 99.9% dust free.

--Has anyone seen this?
--Do you think this is safe to use?

I also picked up these shreddable treat boxes made by Kaytee. There were 4 in a package. They are little cardboard boxes with honeyseed inside. I thought this might help with their beaks since they do not like their cuttle bone or their mineral block.
These are safe, right?

I have got to stop going to these pet stores. I have been to 3 different ones, 4 times this week!!!!
Everytime I go in, I find another budgieboo I want to take home!!!

I found one tonight that I absoulutely LOVED. He/she is solid yellow with red eyes and was so cute. He/she was so small with a short little tail and big eyes. I just might have to go tomorrow and get him/her.

I just don't know, because I am not sure of the sex and if it is a male, that won't work with my 2 females, and I don't think I want to add 2 more at this.

I was wondering that too, I saw it online yesterday. Hm.

The thing I always wonder though is why would people use cage liners or things like that litter when you could just use paper towel or newspaper? Is there something I'm missing?

Solid yellows with red eyes are called lutinos.

And I wish I could go more often, but my parents can't stand the smell lol ...

for a little while i used shredded paper in the bottom of my cage.. the stuff used for rat/mouse chages. it ended up making more of a mess than the birds did. I'm not sure what you saw though. the shreda boxes are just fine, my two loved them. they actually had more fun with the box than the honey treat.
I saw an albino at my petco today. i wish i had roo for another keet.

Yeah, I am probably going to go back in the morning.

He/she was so adorable. Definitely younger than the ones I just got 5 weeks ago.

I feel bad for a few of the other birds. They had some older ones in there. They were full grown (bigger than the majority of the others) and they had the white rings around their eyes.

We've been using the newspaper since I found out the corn cob litter was a death trap!!!!!

Anyway I have been looking for an alternative, just for looks reasons. We when had the corn cob litter in there, the poop didn't seem as obvious as it does on the newspaper and I am a clean freak so it is driving me nuts!!!!!

What is that stuff that they are using the the cages at Petsmart?

That sounds like my first budgieboo Biskig. He was significantly older, and all of his cage buddies had been bought, so it was just him. I couldn't stand to see him in there alone like that, so I took him home.

Thus began the saga of the four budgies.

When I own my house, I will have a room full. I'm not kidding. And I will have the appropriate cages/food/etc. and it will be pandemonium for non-bird lovers! HEHEHE

I would also like a cockatiel and a cockatoo someday...

The stuff I saw looked exaclty like scoopable kitty litter, but it is made from recycled newspaper. It is small pellets. It is also supposed to be 99.9% dust free so there shouldn't be any problems changing it around the birds like kitty litter is.

I can see where the shredded paper would be messy. I think my budgieboos would play in it!

Ohh, that's true lol. Well, if that Kaytee stuff is just made from paper, I don't see why it wouldn't be safe to use.

I know how you feel at the pet store. I always want to take another one home!
