Two weeks ago we brought home a green keet (Sprout) born approximately at the beginning of the year, hand fed and "tamed". She gets on and off our hand, sits on our shoulders, but flies away from us, back to her cage, at every opportunity. I bring her out on a regular basis just to hang out, but she does seem to enjoy being with us. I take her into another room, away from the cage, but now she flies away, just anywhere. It is getting worse, now she nips and runs away from us when we try to get her out of her cage. If we try to touch her at all, she bites. Was it too much too soon? Would another bird help, but then would she ever love us? If she bites and I say "NO" and return her to her cage and cover her, it is not punishment, that is what she wants. I'm not sure what to do next. I've owned cockatiels before, but they instantly warmed to us and were so social and affectionate. Apparently, our new keet, Sprout, just won't give the love away for nothing.

Just give her time and be persistant. If you were with your family a few months after you were born, and suddenly someone came and took you away from your own flock, you'd be upset too. Just love her a lot, and show her that. Take her out a lot like you have been, talk nicely to her, and all will be fine.

When she bites, lightly tap her on the nose and ignore her. You saying no may be the reaction she is looking for, because she thinks if you get mad at her you will put her away. Just be kind and gentle.
