Hi all! I have had my budgie now since 9/30/04. When I first got him I was
able to have him eat from my fingers but never my open hand. I have tried
following the steps suggested here but he will not accept the methods suggested.
He also is a little stick in the mud as he will not play with his toys and will not
use his cuddlebone.

He is with my canary during the day when I am at work and in all honestly I
have minimal time to spend with him in terms of training. Now I noticed he
won't even take millet from my fingers as he used to. Has he reverted back
to being wild? He responds when I talk to him but that is all I have been able
to get him to do with me. Any suggestions?

Hey, welcome. I guess when you say he's with the canary, you mean in separate cages in the same room. When you're home, is he in the room where you spend most of your time? If not, you might want to consider moving him, at least when you're home. That way you can talk to him while you watch TV or go about your life. I also think it's important to spend training time with him every day, even if it's just a few minutes in the morning and evening. They loose their tameness if they're left alone so you're probably starting from scratch again.

Right training isn't a magical activity - it's about building trust. If you don't work on it daily, and keep at it for several weeks in a row, then the trust will fade. So the only cure is to start again and start working on the relationship again.

Definitely keep the keet in a room where you are most of the time. This is especially critical if you're away at work during the day. If you really and truly just are never really home to spend time with your keet, I recommend getting a second keet so at least your keet isn't alone. You won't be able to tame the keet anyway if you're not around - and your keet shouldn't spend a lonely life.
