Views of the lounge area above the dining room, there are actaully little awnings that insert over the food dishes to keep out droppings but I removed them for now to be sure she can clearly see the food and water.

I saw that at PetSmart today! They only had that one, none of the ones with all plastic sides.

I like it! It looks sci-fi.

Coco's Mama, is that a mite protector on Coco's cage? If it is, you should take it off because they are very dangerous to keets!

Here's a link about them:

http://birds.about.com/od/birdcages/qt/miteprotectors.htm

If it isn't, well then I guess I should stop being such a worrier! smile

Ew. it's off.
You know it stunk like a toilet puck or or something I was wary about it , I had a bird before and never did he have mites or any problem over 10 yrs.
The pet store said its they biggest selling item after food.
I told her to tell me how they would get mites, she said it would be from me ie. carrying them in the house from outside, my degree is not in science so I figured I would buy one after that because as I said to my mother " If she's gonna get mites it's from this petstore visit." (I had brought her in for a wing clip to help me tame her.)
I figure to get mites or have a lot of traffic in and out or just live in a certain area prone to mites to get them.
More misinformation, well that was the first and the last and I am glad u brought it to my attention it was making my eyes itch.

Thank you.

OHOH Coco's previous cage did not have a wire grill on the bottom, and I think she is afraid to go down onto it , but that is where the food dish is accessible, my mom was spoon feading her seeds and I gave her some from my hand , i tried to get her to step up on a wooden perch to move her onto the food dish but she won't have it , i pick up the food and sprinled back down like rain she knows it's there, but I am concerned, I could hand her old food dish up high but I would rather have her use this one and explore the cage to see that it is ok and that the bottom is actually fun she could do laps down there.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Awww, that's so cute! Is she bottle fed too? Hahaha, just kidding!

I would leave the dish on the bottom for a day and if you don't see any hulls after that then put the other dish up higher. After she eats, take the higher dish out, and try it again until she gets it!

LOL! That's so funny!

Maybe that's why she doesn't eat out of the dish...

Coco's thinking "I fooled them alright! They think poor Coco's starving so they come running with my spoon! Oh man, this is so great I finally trained them to feed me!"

Haha no kidding actually I just cleaned her cage and i removed the bottom grate and she went to her food dish to eat..ta da I knew it she was afraid of the floor, She has never had a grate on the bottom just paper towel. The food and water actually look easier to access on the grate but she can fly up that extra inch if doesn't want the grate, it's one less thing to wash. now I need to figure out if she is drinking.
Plus the awning i took off to make sure she saw the food(they keep poop from dropping in) I have to get those back too oh one day at a time maybe tommorrow the awning.
Sheesh.

Aww Blue is so cute,I love that all the american budgies get jewelery (anklets) we don't have that here.
That little green spoon I kept from a gelato place in the mall I have 3 different colours but the green matches the feeder (haha I'm a thinkin'..lol)
I originally got it out to try to feed her some homemade apple sauce i didn't know how else to do it cos the cups would be sitcky and gross and she tried it. So thats are "lets try new food spoon".

I am sure a regular Oh lala silver spoon would work too.

She sure does got you fooled. Next she'll have you serving her food on a silver platter. (What kind of food is in the spoon?)

LOL Too cute a star...
Just plain old seeds some sorta all in one mix with cuttle bone scrapings in it cos she wont chew her cuttle bone duh doesn't know what it is Im getting a one thats flavored next time maybe it will work. Sometime I put healthy topppings on I have the carrots andd veggies one but not in that little spoon. I will only go so far..lol and spoon fed budgie is far enough lil brat.

No she has lots more training before take off SF & PL so she won't be going anywhere for a while maybe in the summer.

I went out today and bought an addition, a sun porch ok there is no sun but whatever eventually she will want to explore..the outer limits .Then I saw this activitoy which i though was awesome because it attaches to the wall of the cage , it doesn't hog up the room.
[Linked Image]
Then I found one last item on the floor between the playgyms..a chewy shreddy thing with beads, and two bells it also attaches to the wall of the cage it can be hung as well. I hope the chewy stuff is safe it says for parakeets and they sell it in rolls and on lots of the toys.
[Linked Image]

I just put them in and she's staring at them like they are aliens. lol.

Hey, I was thinking of getting one of those "sun porches" for Scouser, but wasn't sure. And I have that exact jingle bell toy in Scouser's cage, he doesn't even know that it exists.

I've been eyeing that other toy, thinking of getting it for my 4 birds which are housed together.

Hmmm, maybe I just have the wrong kinds of toys for Scouser.

Well look at when (last nov)I got Coco she just figured out her swing has spinny things on it,,now she plays with it but that's it. Maybe ur birds are not bored..remember I have one -Just me and her.

Yea the Sun perch or additional landing hooks on to horizontal bars so when ur bird is out it just has more room without kinda leaving the safety of the cage. (actually know that i think of it if they go on sale I may get more and have them run right around the cage like a ledge)

I was hoping to find a bathtub that hooks onto the bars I have seen them somewhere but right now the city is fresh out!!! Grrr.
Coco and I were thinking pink maybe with swarovski crystal covered claw feet to put out there so she could bathe on the terrace in the sunlight when the days get warmer.

Hmmmm.

Hey coco's mommy, I'm a one keet owner as well and know how you feel. You want your baby to have all the best there is. I'm not working at the moment(disablilty) I go to the pet store for "Sasha" and it's like buyiing shoes! There's nothing I wouldn't do for that precious little baby that has me hook, line, and sinker. My family is getting jealous of the time I spend talking about him. HHHMMMMMM I should go back to work soon. But I don't want to leave me baby!

One keet is nice, ok I have never had more than one so I cannot compare but it looks cute in all the pics how they hang out together but this way she's my best friend al mine mine mine my lil flockmate. They always want you around it's great on the ego. laugh

I have the same sun porch for my tiel! Her's is attached to her cage door from the inside so when the door is opened she can sit on it like a real porch. She loves it! I had to hook mine to the cage bars and then wrap it to the bars with hemp because my tiel is very curious and kept knocking the thing over. She loves chewing on the hemp now.

You can kind of see it here:

(Her cage door is open in that pic)

It's funny that hemp string is safe it seems so hairy really..I'm surprised they don't choke on it .
I am sure your tiel just adores the view, sitting up there surveying the lay of her Queendom below and all her peeps. :p

Yeah I saw those porch things today and almost bought one, but I wasn't sure if they'd use 'em... hmmm. Still deciding. I have to go back there anyway cuz I bought the wrong size perches...

Actually Coco has a small cage compared to the ones I see on here, some of your cages are big enough for me and I cetainly could not clean it withouht laddersand some mountain climbing gear , DON"T PANIC Coco is not in a shoebox.

It's hard I can't take a photo and hold the bird so i had to get my mom to hold her while I tried to take photos as fast as I could lol if you think those are poorly focused you should see the ones i deleted. I find her easier to hold but my Mom can't use the camera ,she is perplexed by this new fangled machinery.

I could *ahem* Also take some advice on the biting. Pm me with ur knowledge and guidance cos i am not so good at this lol.

Wow! It seems that Coco was quite stubborn when it came to training...but you're doing it, and this is a huge achievement! I'm sure you'll get past the biting too. Maybe once she gets even more used to sitting on your finger and traveling around the house, she'll welcome your hand and give up her biting! Congrats!

Awwww Coco is just a little sweetheart smile

She might be biting because shes molting. I've learnt why molting makes them cranky. You know the pin feathers? Well those are feathers that pierce through their skin, thats why they're so cranky because it hurts alot. Poor babies, frown

Coco is afraid? of the manzanita perch, so she flies around avoiding it and bumps her little head , but then if I remove it I have to make another landing area.
So today I found the cutest lil thing it's called the enchanted perch with little rubbery nubby things for comfy feet and while I was there I noticed they also had a ladder that had chewy fabric and the same little foot nubby things on the rungs I had to get them.
I haven't put them in yet but I sure hope she likes these.

omg I'm so glad I read this thread, I immediately removed the thing from her cage, hopefully thats what it was that was irritating her lungs and causing her to sneeze so much.

Sasha has different toys that I change every week or so, they get bored with some. I wish I could post a pic but no digital camera mad Soon I will get one when I get my income tax back. I will probably spend it on Sash. I want to get a bigger cage, so when I go back to work I "might" get another bird to keep her company.

Oh I forgot to give the verdict about the spaceship cage:
Coco seems to like it, and the bottom plastic sheild keeps all the husks inside no more seeds on the floor.
The only thing is that I had to take the grate out of the bottom cos Coco wouldn't go on it she has never had a cage with a grate at the bottom (and actually I don't know why it is there anyway if someone can tell me that would be awesome)But without the grate the food dishes are like an inch higher than the bottom of the floor then the height of the dish itself i think she eats kinda sitting in it although if the grate was there I think the idea still would be to stand on the edge of the feeder but she eats from it so i guess its ok.
If there is any reason i can put the grate in now cos she is braver than before and really only venture down to eat and drink.

the grate is there to keep her out of her own feces. chloe likes to sit on the handle part to eat out of her dishes or just dive bomb into them. shes still learning how to work her new lil body lol. im glad i saw you have this cage thats why we bought it we love it! and its so nice that its clean. its kinda funny watching her look out through the plastic though

HMmm but poop sticks to the grate too all the time I see it in stores, and pics and she really doesn't habg out on the bottom, I guess i can try to put it back, she may freak out I don't know , it would not really be a big deal except she has to down to eat.
Sigh...I hate scaring the birdy with new stuff. i should have left it in there in the first place but my old cage never even had a grate so i didn't get it and she didn't like it so I didn't know why it was ther and well u can see how I didn't know.
Thanks for the info.

Um she had a little accident ba ha ha with the activitoy, shes fine..I almost died laughing.

You can see it on page 3 its a little blue thing with a barrel shape it had a bell inside it spins.

So far she has only used it for leverage moving along the back of the cage. But she came up from underneath and grab it not realizing it spins i heard this whirring noise and saw her running runnin lol trying to get up it but it keeps spinning it was like log rolling. Her wings opened like what the ? And she flew to another perch like all out of breath it was hilarious.

She is into her swing now that i wrapped the bottom in hemp she is trying to get it off, she pulld it up on her comfy perch to hold it steady lol. There are also tabs on the top that spin she like pecking those.

She like the ladder too but not the new hanging one, she wont sit on the swing either maybe she get seasick fast ? Hmmm.

Sounds like she's really enjoying herself! I liked the idea of wrapping the swing in hemp. I think I'll do that to one or two swings.

On our bird tree, we have a couple of branches which are attached loosely, so that they twirl around, and one that used to be stable and sturdy, but now is like a teeter totter. Bijou and Pixel just absolutely LOVE those, they go on it, and flap their wings like mad trying to steady themselves or right themselves up on the perch. And I have got to get a video of all of them playing on the teeter totter, they discovered that one by accident. Pixel and McCaratney were sitting on one side, and City was on the other, and McCartney jumped off and then City sort of flew up off the other end. It was hilarious! After that they kept experiamenting with it. I'd like to set one up in my new cage when I get it this weekend. smile

Hi Guys,
Now keep in mind It is a one bird cage.

I actually in retropect ( hindsight is 20/20) would have bought the L01 model it is larger. Let me check on the dimensions. It is 24"L X 15"D X 20.5"H. So 7,380 sq. in.
So it is lacking 2340 sq.in for a second bird. I don't really know how significant that is but I find it is a 1 birdyboo size.

I bought mine at SuperPet but I live in Ontario, Canada, I paid 69.99 for it and laughed all the way home, at the Petsmart near by they where asking 149.99 do not ask me how they can even do that but regardless shop around.

Vision Cages are a new line by Hagen so if you do a search for Hagens site you should find some info. Or call around, they also come tall too. the same cage but it has another piece about 18"H that attaches to it then the roof.

I must say for everyting it says it will do , it really does keep the seed inside , no mess outside unles ob. I hang millet up top where the bars are open.

Good Luck take ur time finding the perfect home.

Your birdie has lots of love and that makes me happy.

The enchanted Perch and Matching ladder are from Pet Valu!

Super Pet, Pet Valu, Pet Smart are where I shop. Sometimes at Petland just for cuttle bone, mineral and iodine blocks etc.

Um that per litre of gas, your 1 gallon is like almost 4 litres.
Eh?
So my best guess is that 1 gallon would be around 3.70 for you then.

One dollar 2 cents and .9 so so almost one dollar 3 cent for 1 litre, and about 3-4 litres is one gallon. Eh? grin

Yes! Come on down! Just a few hundred more miles and you can visit Guido and I in Delaware. We have a Petco, too...and a Petsmart, and an Ulta (great prices on make-up), all tax free. No sales tax in DE!

We're only 120 miles from New York City. That wouldn't be much fun for scouts, I suppose. There probably aren't many camp sites in Central Park.

No NY state. Just 3 hours from the border a place called Fillmore lol camping in NYC isn't that like just not having a house, or is it a camping in the urban jungle. Why I could just do that here in my city lol.

Looks like I really may be going on this trip . Who knows what's an easy place to shop at before the Canadian border at Niagara Falls , I think Walden Galleria is just a short trip out of the way, is that place cool?
