Nice pictures, but they're not close or clear enough for me to see if there's white around the cere etc. smile

BUT the light blue one (Diamond) looks female from the avatar. Does she have a white cere with a tint of light pink?

Why do you have a pinecone in their cage?

To 3 budgies:
Diamond's cere is actually a light lavendar with white around the nostrils. My camera does not do well with close up pictures. That was the best I could get. Thanks for trying to help me determine their sex. I guess I will never know unless I go to the vet and ask.

As far as the pinecone, I read on a website somewhere that they like to chew on them. Since mine won't touch the cuttle bone right now I thought I would try it. They go to it every now and then and pick at it. The website also said they like to seeds from it. The only precaution you have to take is that is needs to be a fresh pinecone and you have to "bake" it to kill any little bugs or spiders that might be hiding. The "baking" is easy. Just place it in the oven on 225 for 20 minutes, turn the oven off and leave it in there for 2 hrs. You can also use pine branches if you bake them too. They really like to pick the bark off. I believe the website I saw this on was www.budgieplace.com but, I am not sure, I looked at soooo many! They also like to chew on paper towel tubes. I cut one in half and hung it in the cage and the love to chew on the end of it. (cheap affordable toys!)

Have a BLESSED day!

huntly528- Okay, well from your description of her cere she sounds like a female, but I am no expert. smile

Wow, I never knew that! That seems like a pretty cool idea! I think I'll gather up some pine branches and bake 'em! laugh Seriously! They proabably like to go through the paper towel tubes too, right?

smile

Mine won't go through the tubes yet. They are supposed to like that. But then again, I have only had them for 15 days!

Have a BLESSED day!
