Boston Wine Expo 2001 -
Bridgeview Wines from Oregon
We were drawn to the Bridgeview table by the gorgeous blue bottles they store their Riesling in. Bridgeview is a family-owned winery in Oregon that has been around since 1986. The current owner/winemaker is Rene Eichmann, who took over in 1998.

Jerry and Rene
We tasted the Riesling, which was light, fruity and gentle. Rene talked about his winemaking philosophy - not too scientific, but not careless either. He feels that everything "has got to be in balance" when you create a great wine. He can walk out into his vineyards in the summer and "I can see if it's not right" - it's something you have an innate feel for. His feelings seem to be right on, because the wines were delicious.
We asked about ice wine in Oregon, but apparently the climate does not get cold enough consistantly enough for this sweet treat. The rieslings and pinots from the west coast seem to be what the climate is best suited for.
