Fun Flavor-Related Wine Tasting Ideas

It can often be hard for wine tasters to figure out what aromas they smell in a given wine. So why not do wine tastings for yourself or with friends that help you learn to identify those flavors?

Simply look at a group of flavors on the flavor chart - say the nuts. Print out each nut page, and then get wines to taste that are featured there. Buy the nuts too, so you have them there for reference. Now eat some almonds, and then sip the wine that has the almond flavor in it. You'll find that this helps you taste the flavor more clearly, and will also help you remember the combinations.

You can even plan a sequence of tastings - one on peaches, one on pears, one on apricots, and so on! If you're feeling culinary, you can include dishes to go with your tasting that use the featured food.
