Rose Flower -
Aromas and Flavors of Wine
The rose has been well known to the most ancient of cultures. Its fragrance has spoken of delicate beauty and romance, and its gorgeous color has made it a natural addition to gardens and vases. Rose petals were used to fill mattresses, to sprinkle before wedding couples, to add scent to baths, to create creams and lotions.
A wine does not really "taste" of rose - it's the aroma that smells of rose. Remember, your tongue only tastes sweet, sour, salty and bitter. The rest of a wine's "flavor" is really the aroma. Swirl that glass to release the scent of roses!
The Wines with Rose Flavor
A classic wine with a rose nose is Gewurztraminer. Barolo and Nebbiolo are light Italian reds that feature rose flavors.
