Peach Fruit -
Aromas and Flavors of Wine
Peaches have been known and loved by the Chinese for thousands of years. The fruit was sacred and thought to bring immortality. From China it spread across asia, and when it was discovered by the western world it was called a "persian apple". To the renaissance court, a single peach for dessert was the ultimate treat.
Peaches were then brought to the US and slowly planted across the continent. It was only in the 1700s that peach orchards were planted in any volume in the southeastern US. Georgia and other southern states are now world famous for their peaches.
The Wines with Peach Flavor
Peach is a sweet flavor, and it can be found in icewine. Sauternes is another dessert wine with peach flavors. Peach can also be found in a milder form in Pinot Gris / Pinot Grigio and Viognier.
