Banana Fruit -
Aromas and Flavors of Wine

The banana is actually a gigantic herb that's grown in many tropical countries. It's the largest plant that doesn't have a woody stem to support it. Bananas are commonly eaten in just about every country, and there was even a song written about Bananas in the 60s - "The Banana Boat Song".

Bananas have a sharp, sweet flavor. It should be relatively easy for you to find a banana in a store to sample, to learn more about a banana's flavor. There are even banana flavored gums and candies out there if you wished to try those.

The Wines with Banana Flavor

There are two wines that have a hint of banana in their flavor. The first is Pinotage, a red wine from South Africa. The Pinotage grape is a cross created in 1922. It's a light and fruity wine.

The second wine with banana flavors is Beaujolais, a light, fruity wine from France. The Beaujolais wine is named after the region of Beaujolais, France. It is actually made with the Gamay grape.
