Almond Nut -
Aromas and Flavors of Wine

Almonds originally came from North Africa and were enjoyed by the Romans. They are mentioned in Shakespeare and the Bible as well! The Almond nut grows on a tree and was heavily used in medieval recipes. People thought that eating almonds would keep you from being drunk.

Almonds can be found both as whole nuts and as the sliced meat of the nut in just about any store.

The Wines with Almond Flavor

The main wine that has flavors of almond in it is Barolo, ared wine from the Piedmont area of Italy. This wine is made from the Nebbiolo grape. Almond flavors are also found in Soave.
